MARY KAY Mineral Foundation

Hey Beauties,

So yesterday I received a little package in the mail and I am excited to share it all with you.

Mary Kay mineral foundation! If you haven't tried this, I highly recommend that you do! I used this powder years ago and after using it again today, I wonder why I ever stopped!!

Here is what Mary Kay says:
USA
Mary Kay® Mineral Powder Foundation is a weightless, skin-perfecting powder that makes lines, wrinkles and other imperfections seem to disappear. You get the coverage of a foundation with the comfort of a powder.

  • Buildable coverage blends effortlessly with the sweep of a brush for a flawless look.
  • Long-wearing, transfer-resistant formula won’t fade away by midday.
  • Controls shine and imparts a matte finish.

The price:
USA - Foundation $18, Brush $10
AUS - Foundation $30, Brush $15

I use to buy this from a MK distributor in Australia but now that I am in the USA and don't know any distributors, I decided to have a look on ebay.com. On ebay I managed to get the Foundation and Brush for $12 including postage. Such a  bargain. What I was excited about when buying it in the USA is the range of colours. In Australia the MK mineral foundation colours available are: Ivory 1 and 2, Beige 1 and 2 and Bronze 1. I was in between Ivory 2 and Beige 1 so I use to buy both and mix them together but in USA they have Ivory 0.5, 1, 2, Beige 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and Bronze 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. So I was excited to try out Beige 0.5. This colour seems to be perfect!

This powder can be worn as a stand alone foundation but I usually wear this powder over my liquid foundation. I love the buildable coverage and that I can either wear one layer over BB cream for a natural look or I can wear a few layers over foundation for a flawless look. It covers visible pores and all imperfections.

Application
Dip your brush into the product and then you need to tap it off the brush before applying it. Pat it onto your skin with the brush and then buff into skin in a circular motion to blend it out. The MK mineral foundation blends out beautifully. It is lightweight and doesn't cake up.

MK Mineral foundation is a really nice matte finish and covers all shine. It is suppose to be waterproof and sweat-resistant which for me means I don't get shine coming through half way through the day! Which is exactly what I need. This baby is my ticket to a shine free summer.

The container holds a lot of product and you don't need to use a lot of it which means this lasts for ages! One thing that I never use to like about the MK mineral foundation was the packaging. There was no way to stop the powder from all ending up in the lid/top of the container. I use to have to store a powder puff in there but it was still so messy! So when I opened my new container I was so happy to see that they have put an open/close thing on it. That doesn't really make sense but here is a picture of what I am talking about...

Quickly about the brush... I wasn't actually going to buy the brush because I planned to use my MAC 182 Kabuki brush but it came free with the powder. The MK brush bristles are a little bit stiff and it does shed.

This has turned into a bit of a rave instead of a review and I have probably made it pretty clear that I love this product, cause I really do! If you are looking for a great powder this summer, you should definitely consider trying this out. This is a great product for everyone because you can create a natural or full coverage finish. If you like Bare Minerals, I think you will like this too (and you will love the price tag).

Would love to hear your thoughts on this product.

Love Lucee xx
