Unexpected uses for Baking Soda

Hi Lovlies,

Over the years I have been surprised by the many unexpected beauty related uses for 'Baking Soda' (bicarb soda) so today I thought I would share some with you.

Depending on where you are from you will either call it Bicarb or Baking soda but its the same thing. Baking soda is a very handy little powder and is very inexpensive and so are all these other ingredients that it can be paired with.

TEETH WHITENING
Mix some baking soda with your toothpaste to whiten your teeth.

HAIR DETOX
Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with your regular shampoo for a deep clean. This is GREAT for removing product build up on hair. I did this once a month before my wedding and my hair always felt lovely and soft afterwards.

FACE SCRUB
Mix baking soda and coconut oil for a lovely face scrub. The baking soda helps reduce the size of pores.

GENTLE EXFOLIATOR
If you don't like the idea of mixing with coconut oil, try mixing with your favourite cleanser.

DRY SHAMPOO
Sprinkle on roots, comb through and then fluff up your hair with a hairdryer.

BRIGHTEN NAILS & SOFTEN CUTICLES
Mix with water and rub over nails and cuticles to soften your cuticles and brighten your nails.

REMOVE COLDSORES, BLACKHEADS & PIMPLES
Mix baking soda with 1/2 amount of water to make a paste. Apply to affected area and leave for 15 minutes before washing off.

HAIR TOOLS CLEANER
Use baking soda & water to clean 'gunk' build up on hair stylers.

DRY ELBOWS, KNEES & ANKLES
This is a good one to use before applying fake tan! Mix lemon & baking soda into a paste and apply to elbows, kness & ankles. Rub in to exfoliate. Wash off after 10-15 minutes and exfoliate.

SOME NON BEAUTY RELATED USES

CLEANING
Baking soda is awesome for cleaning everything!

LAUNDRY
Pop some baking soda in your whites wash to whiten & brighten

CLEANING SILVER JEWELLERY
This is a trick I remember my grandma showing me. Line a bowl with Aluminum foil, put jewellery in bowl, sprinkle baking soda over then fill will boiling water. Leave for around 20 minutes or longer.

ABSORB SMELLS
Keep a box open in the fridge to absorb gross fridge smells. Put into sachets and leave in shoes or gym bags.

Who said baking soda was just for baking!!

Doesn't this make you want to go out and buy a box of baking soda?

What do you use bicarb/baking soda for?

Love Lucee xx
