Juice Detox - Green Juice Recipe | Day 2


GREEN JUICE RECIPE

This recipe is suppose to make one large glass but I get about 2-3 out of it, this could be because I use a cold press juicer which normally gets more juice out of fruit and veggies. I usually double the recipe so that I get 4-5 glasses out of it and don't have to juice as often.

If you are making a large batch to use over a couple of days, make sure you store it in an air tight jar and fill it all the way to the brim to prevent exposure to air. Because there isn't much fruit in the juice and it is mainly veggies it will last 2-3 days if stored correctly.

Below are the ingredients for this juice as well as some of the many health benefits for each ingredient.


INGREDIENTS:
½ cucumber
good source of B vitamins, Cucumbers are 95 precent water, Rehydrates body and replenishes daily vitamins, Fight cancers, Relieves bad breath, Aids in weight loss and digestion, Cures diabetes, reduces cholesterol and controls blood pressure, Promotes joint health, relieves gout and arthritis pain
4 celery stalks 
 reduces inflammation, helps you calm down, regulates the body’s alkaline balance, aids digestion, contains “good” salts, cares for your eyes, reduces “bad” cholesterol, lowers blood pressure, can combat cancer
1 cup spinach
help combat many cancers, increases muscle efficiency, may reduce the risk of skin cancer, low in calories yet very high in vitamins, minerals, a heart-healthy food, anti-inflammatory properties, keep your brain young,protective against eye diseases, excellent source of iron
1 cup parsley 
high chlorophyll content ( purifies blood), high in vitamin C, anti-inflammatory, helps detoxify the toxins from the body, helps eliminate excess fluid that causes bloating or fluid retention, good remedy for cancer, asthma & lung infections, helps reduce free radical damage done to our bodies, immunity booster,
1 lemon
alkalizing for the body, rich in vitamin C, detoxifies your liver, cleanses your bowels, antibacterial properties, useful in treating high blood pressure, aids digestion, repairs skin, reduces appetite, cleanses urinary tract and helps release toxins faster, freshens breath, promotes healing,
1 green apple
help avoid alzheimer's, helps decrease risk of diabetes, helps reduce cholesterol, good source of fibre, detoxifies the liver, boosts your immune system, prevents cataracts
1 knob of ginger thumb size
aids digestion, anti-inflammatory, helps relieve colds, coughs, asthma, colic & nausea, helps reduce liver damage caused by pain killers such as paracetamol,  helps lower blood pressure, helps relieve period pains & migraines
½ cup coriander
helps with skin inflammation and skin disorders, lowers cholesterol & blood pressure,  high iron content helps with anemia, has anti-allergic properties, salmonella protection, aids digestion, helps prevent diabetes
Method:
Run all the ingredients through the juicer and then strain.

This juice tastes about as good as it sounds. It's not really a juice that most would look forward to sitting down to enjoy. When drinking this I remind myself I am drinking it to nourish and not to please. I have gotten use to it now and don't think about the taste too much when drinking it. If you are not use to vegetable juices,  you will probably not enjoy this at all. You may want to add some more apples to sweeten it up a little bit but make sure you keep in mind the sugar content.

Day 2

I slept really good last night and woke up feeling well rested. I think it was thanks to the camomile tea so I will definitely be doing that again. I thought I might wake up hungry given I didn't eat anything yesterday but I felt fine which is good. Around breakfast time I did really feel like avocado on toast but that's normal to me. I think the hardest part is missing the feeling of eating, sometimes I just want to chew something. Ok, that sounds weird but hopefully you know what I mean. I felt normal all day but was pretty hungry tonight as I had a late hair appointment and didn't get to have my dinner juice until late which also meant I didn't get time to have my bedtime tea. Hope I still sleep as good!

10:15am - Herbal Tea: Rose and Vanilla

11:30am - 300ml Nudi Veggie Juice (Beetroot, apple, carrot, pineapple and mint)

1:00pm - Fresh Green Juice

2:30pm - Herbal Tea: Green Tea and Mint

4:00pm - 300ml Nudi Veggie Juice (Beetroot, apple, carrot, pineapple & mint)

4:30pm - Herbal Tea: Green Tea and Mint

8:30pm - Fresh Green Juice

9:00pm - Inner health plus capsule and glass of water

Water intake - 3 x 800ml bottles (plus herbal teas)

Sorry if today's post is a bit rushed, I didn't expect to get home so late but my hair looks awesome so it's totally worth it!
